Its primary objective is to ensure the safety and security of both citizens and expatriates while taking all necessary measures to prevent crime and disclose the secrets of committed crimes. The ministry also manages nationality-related affairs, issues travel documents, regulates expatriate entry and residence, and oversees the prison system.
Over the years, the Ministry of Interior has invested dedicated and continuous efforts to create a capable and advanced security agency that is capable of ensuring the fidelity and achieving desired security and protection of society. With the development of Qatar under the leadership of Emir H.H. Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Father Emir H.H. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the ministry's role and responsibilities have increased significantly in maintaining security and stability to meet the requirements of comprehensive renaissance and development in the country.
The Ministry of Interior has achieved many accomplishments and victories in a short span of time due to its modernization and development planning. This planning includes the provision of technical and human resources needs, proper supply of devices and equipment, and the expansion of public services rendered according to creative security strategic plans that meet present and future requirements. Furthermore, the ministry has activated community partnership between police agencies and community members to realize the concept of joint responsibility in providing more security, safety, and stability for society.
