S'hail 2023 Concludes with QR 800,000 Highest Bid for Falcon

The 7th Katara International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition (S’hail) concluded on September 9, 2023, with a resounding success. The event, which was held at Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar, brought together over 200 companies from Qatar and around the world to showcase their products and services related to hunting, falconry, and camping.

One of the highlights of the exhibition was the auction of falcons. A saker falcon was sold for QR 800,000 (about US$220,000), setting a new record for the highest price ever paid for a falcon in Qatar. The falcon was a male, about 2 years old, and was described as being in excellent condition. It was sold to a buyer from the United Arab Emirates.

In addition to the falcon auction, S’hail 2023 also featured a variety of other activities, including live falconry demonstrations, traditional hunting competitions, and a food festival. The exhibition was also attended by a number of government officials, including the Minister of Municipality and Environment, H E Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie.

The success of S’hail 2023 is a testament to the growing popularity of hunting and falconry in Qatar. The sport is deeply rooted in Qatari culture, and the exhibition provides a platform for people to learn more about it and to showcase their skills and expertise.

The organizers of S’hail have already announced that the 8th edition of the exhibition will be held in 2024. They are confident that the event will continue to grow in popularity and become one of the leading hunting and falconry exhibitions in the world.

Here are some other highlights of S’hail 2023:

  • A traditional Bedouin tent was set up in the exhibition grounds, where visitors could learn about Bedouin culture and lifestyle.
  • There was a petting zoo where children could interact with animals such as camels, sheep, and goats.
  • A number of workshops were held on topics such as falconry, hunting, and camping.
  • A photography competition was held, with the winners receiving prizes such as falconry equipment and camping gear.

S’hail 2023 was a major success, and it is already being hailed as one of the best editions of the exhibition yet. The event helped to promote Qatar’s hunting and falconry heritage, and it also showed the growing international interest in the sport. I am sure that S’hail 2024 will be even bigger and better.
